“Do you know how the solar system was created?” That was the first thing Simon asked—not hello or who are you, but a direct and confident question.

He moved between ideas and models, thinking aloud and inviting someone else into that thinking. This was learning in motion: speculative, joyful and unafraid of being unfinished.

A learning centre can protect these early signals of curiosity long enough for them to deepen. It allows children to exist as learners before they are measured.

If that curiosity can exist only inside a special space, the wider system still has work to do. Every classroom should feel safe enough for a child to ask.
